Nvidia Reports Record Revenue as AI Demand Surges, Raises Guidance

Technology · 6 min read

Nvidia Corp. reported first-quarter revenue of $44.1 billion, surpassing Wall Street expectations, as insatiable demand for its artificial intelligence chips continued to drive unprecedented growth across cloud and enterprise customers.

Data Center Revenue Hits $39 Billion

Data center revenue reached $39.1 billion, a 120% increase year-over-year, powered by shipments of the company’s latest Blackwell architecture GPUs. CEO Jensen Huang called the results "exceptional" on a call with analysts.

"The age of AI is in full steam," Huang said. "Every industry will be revolutionized and reinvented."

Gross margins expanded to 78.4%, the highest in company history, even as the company ramps production of its most complex chips. Second-quarter revenue guidance was raised to $45 billion, well above consensus estimates.

Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc. have all signaled plans to increase capital spending on AI infrastructure this year, a trend that analysts say could sustain Nvidia’s growth through 2026.

Palantir Technologies Inc. saw its shares decline in after-hours trading as investors rotated into hardware names following the Nvidia results, even though the software maker reported its own strong quarter earlier in the week.

Shares of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Intel Corp. traded mixed as investors weighed whether demand for AI accelerators would continue to crowd out spending on traditional server CPUs.

Why Alpha Lens

Sound familiar?

📰

I read the NVDA earnings piece—I bought at $180. Is this good or bad for me?

I get the headline, not what it means for my position.

After work, the news was hours old and the price had already moved.

Important signals keep arriving too late to act on.

😩

I tried other tools but typing tickers and cost basis every time was too much hassle.

When setup is painful, even good tools go unused.

Alpha Lens answers using your average cost.

Typical take
"This NVDA news is positive. Shares should rise."
Alpha Lens
"On my $180 entry, earnings look strong—but I'd watch rather than chase right now."

I'm primarily a retail investor in US stocks. CNBC and Yahoo Finance were part of my daily routine—one article done right took real time.

And after reading, one question never went away: "So what does this mean for my portfolio?"

I wanted the parts that touched my holdings, fast—and what to do next, right away. When that didn't exist, I'd calculate by hand or ask communities.

So I built a tool to read news from my portfolio's point of view.

Try it and send feedback or ideas to ryanhyunboo@gmail.com—I'll iterate quickly.
